National Solar Repository platform for SERIS at the National University of Singapore

Episcript built the platform behind Singapore's national solar data repository, bringing the registration, technical records and performance data of solar PV installations into one central system.

Collecting structured data from solar installations across Singapore

The Solar Energy Research Institute of Singapore (SERIS) at the National University of Singapore (NUS) conducts research into solar energy and photovoltaic technologies in Singapore.

As solar adoption grew across HDB estates, condominiums, commercial buildings, factories and other properties, SERIS needed a structured way to collect and analyse information from these installations.

A central platform behind the National Solar Repository of Singapore

Episcript developed the platform behind the National Solar Repository of Singapore, a central system where solar PV owners could register their installations and submit detailed information about their systems, energy generation and performance.

Episcript built it as a customised data collection and management platform, covering:

  • Solar system registration
  • Detailed PV installation records
  • Energy generation and performance data
  • Searchable solar database
  • Geographic mapping
  • Statistical and research information
  • Backend administration and data management

Turning solar installations into useful research data

Each registration captures information about the installation and how it performs, including:

  • System location and property type
  • Installed solar capacity
  • Commissioning date
  • Solar technology used
  • Energy generation and performance
  • Technical details of each installation

Registration workflows and a searchable public database

Episcript also developed the backend registration and data management workflows, allowing solar system owners to create accounts, register their installations and provide the required technical information through a structured process.

The public-facing platform complements this with searchable system records, maps and solar-related information, helping make the collected data useful to researchers, industry participants and the wider public.

Outcomes

A national dataset for solar research and benchmarking

The platform gave SERIS a growing national dataset for studying how solar systems perform across different building types, technologies and environments. The repository now includes more than 1,000 registered PV installations, which users can search and explore across Singapore.

A central national repository that turns data from individual solar installations into valuable information for research, benchmarking and the continued growth of solar energy in Singapore.
