School management module
Set up every test and exam, mark it, check it and publish the results from the student records your school already keeps. Marks are processed by subject, class and term, report books are built from them, and exam seating arrangements are planned in the same place. Exam grading is one module of Episcript's school management system, and AI features can be added to mark structured answers against your scheme for a teacher to confirm.
Built in Singapore for schools and learning centres that set, mark and report their own exams.
Assessment cycle
Each test and exam is set up, marked, moderated and published from one record per paper, and every mark lands on the student's own record.
Add the paper to the exam calendar with its date, total marks, weighting and the classes sitting it.
Teachers enter marks per question or per paper, on a tablet or a laptop, and missing scripts are flagged.
Heads of department review the spread of marks by class, adjust with a reason logged, and lock the paper.
Results, grades and report books are released privately to each family through the portal.
Assessment setup
Most exam trouble starts weeks before the paper is sat: a weighting agreed in a meeting and never written down, or a class left off the candidate list. Set those decisions down once in the assessment setup, and every mark entered later follows them.
Plan the term's tests and exams in one calendar, each paper with its subject, level, date, duration and total marks. Students and parents are told the schedule, and a clash between two papers for the same class shows up before the timetable goes out.
Candidate lists come straight from enrolment, by class and by subject combination. A student taking Higher Chinese or a different Mathematics paper appears only on the lists for the papers they actually sit.
Decide how class tests, weighted assessments and the end-of-year exam combine into one result, and which grading scale applies at each level. Primary and secondary sections can run different scales in the same system.
Exam seating
Seating a few hundred candidates across a hall and three classrooms usually means a spreadsheet, a floor plan and a long evening. We build seating arrangement into the exam module: choose the venues, set out each room, and the system places every candidate from the lists you have already built.
Marks processing
Marks processing is where a term's work can come undone: a weighting applied twice, a mark keyed into the wrong column, an absent student counted as zero. The module does the arithmetic the same way every time and shows the teacher anything that looks wrong before it reaches a report book.
Teachers enter marks for their own classes only, per paper or per question, on a tablet, a laptop or from a spreadsheet upload. Each total is checked against the paper's maximum as it is typed.
Record absent, absent with a valid reason or exempt instead of a zero. Each code follows the rule your school sets, which stops one missed paper from dragging a term result down unfairly.
Component marks roll up into weighted totals and grades automatically, with your rounding rule applied at the step you choose rather than wherever a spreadsheet formula happened to sit.
A live list shows which classes and papers are still waiting for marks, and which teacher owes them. The exam coordinator reads it on one screen instead of ringing round on the deadline.
Every mark changed after entry is logged with who changed it, when and why. When a parent queries a result, the answer is already on the record.
Once a paper is moderated, its marks are locked. Reopening them takes a named approver, and the reopening is logged as well.
Results reporting
Report books, class analysis and each family's own view all come from the same locked marks. The figure a parent reads is the figure the department moderated, with nothing retyped in between.
Generate report books for a class or a whole level from your own template, with marks, grades, attendance and the form teacher's comment in place. Class or level positions appear only if your school still reports them.
Compare mean scores, grade spreads and pass rates by class, subject and teacher. Where marks are entered per question, you can also see which questions most of the cohort found hardest.
Follow each student's results across tests, terms and years, beside their attendance. Early alerts from student performance tracking flag a student whose scores are slipping while there is still time to arrange help.
Publish results on the date you choose, and each student and parent reads only their own through the portal. The full history of every paper sat stays on the student record, by class, subject and term.
Capability
AI features for exam grading are scoped with you and built in their own phase, working with the papers, marking schemes and results already in your school management system. A teacher confirms every mark and every comment before it reaches a student.
AI marks quizzes and structured answers against your marking scheme, proposes a score with its reasoning attached, and sends borderline or unclear scripts straight to the teacher.
AI drafts practice tests and question papers from your syllabus, lesson notes and past papers, set out in the format your students will sit, for the subject teacher to edit.
AI turns a term's marks, attendance and homework into a first draft of each student's comment, in your school's tone. The form teacher edits and approves every one.
Ask "which Secondary 3 students dropped a grade in Mathematics since the last term test" and AI answers with the list from your own records, ready to act on.
How it fits
Exam grading is one module of Episcript's School Management System. It takes its candidates from enrolment and classes, writes results to the student record, feeds student performance tracking and publishes through the same parent portal. That is what makes it more than a grading app set beside everything else.
Schools usually start with enrolment, classes and attendance, then add exams and results as their own phase with their own quote. If you are comparing it with the software schools and teachers already use for grading →, the main difference is that marks here never have to be copied into another system.
Tuition centres that mainly run weekly tests and progress reports for PSLE, O-Level or A-Level students may find our tuition centre management software a closer fit.
Weighing it up
Spreadsheets are flexible and every teacher knows them, and quiz apps are good at marking a quick online test. The strain shows at the end of term, when marks from thirty sheets have to agree, be moderated and reach a report book without anyone retyping them.
How an exam module in your school system compares with spreadsheets and a separate grading app.
| Point of comparison | EpiscriptExam module in your school system | Typical setupSpreadsheets and a grading app |
|---|---|---|
| Setting up an exam | Paper, weighting and candidates set once, from enrolment | Copied into a new sheet or app each term |
| Marks entry | Each teacher enters marks for their own classes, checked against the paper's maximum | One shared file, or a different app per teacher |
| Weightings and grades | One rule applied across every class | A formula per sheet, easily broken when a column moves |
| Exam seating | Seats, rooms and invigilators planned from the candidate lists | Arranged by hand in a separate file |
| Changes after moderation | Logged with who, when and why | Overwritten unless someone keeps a copy |
| Report books and parent access | Built from the locked marks and published in the portal | Mail-merged, then printed or emailed |
| AI features | Scoped with you and built to work with your own papers and results | Whatever the app offers in general |
| Cost | Quoted per project and eligible for government grants | Little or nothing to start, paid for later in staff time |

Questions
It carries every test and exam from set-up to published result. Papers, weightings and candidate lists are set once, teachers enter marks for their own classes, and the system works out weighted totals and grades. Heads of department then moderate and lock them, and report books and portal results are built from those locked marks rather than retyped.
Grading scales are set per level and subject, which lets a primary section report in one format while a secondary section uses the grades it prepares students for at O-Level or A-Level. The module is built for your school's own internal tests and exams, such as weighted assessments and prelims, rather than for national examination entries.
You set the weighting of each component once in the assessment setup, for example class tests, two weighted assessments and the end-of-year exam. Marks roll up into a weighted total and a grade with your rounding rule applied, and absent or exempt codes follow the rule your school chooses instead of counting as zero.
We build seating arrangement into the module. You define each room's layout, and candidates are placed by index number, by class or with different papers alternated along the rows. Special arrangements such as extra time are flagged, invigilators are rostered per session, and seating plans and attendance lists print from the same candidate lists.
AI marking can be added as its own phase. It marks quizzes and structured answers against your marking scheme, proposes a score with its reasoning, and sends borderline scripts to the teacher. A teacher confirms every mark before it counts, and the change history shows which marks AI proposed and which the teacher adjusted.
Heads of department see the spread of marks for each paper by class and by teacher. Any adjustment is made with a reason and logged against the person who made it, then the paper is locked. Results reach the portal only on the release date you set, once the paper has been signed off.
We map your mark sheets or your current database to the new structure, run a test import for you to check, then load past results against each student, class, subject and term. Earlier results sit beside new ones, which means progress across years is visible from your first term on the system.
Teachers see and enter marks only for their own classes, heads of department moderate their own subjects, and families see only their own child's results. Every change is logged with the user and the time. Together with your own policies, those permissions and logs support your PDPA obligations for student results and personal data.
It is a module of our School Management System rather than a separate product, because it draws its candidates from enrolment and classes and publishes through the parent portal. Schools usually add it once enrolment, classes and attendance are running, as its own phase with its own quote.
Our solutions are eligible for government grants. We will explain how the schemes apply to your project and what the agency looks for, and help you budget with the current position in front of you.

Next step
Schools rarely struggle to mark the papers. The time goes on waiting for the last class's marks, checking weightings in a spreadsheet late at night and retyping results into report books the week they go home. Bring one term's mark sheets to a demo and we will show you the same results set up, processed and published in the exam module.
